Dr. Webb Belangia
I have been a pastor in the United Methodist Church for thirty-five years and I’m in my sixth year as the Senior Pastor here at Mauldin UMC. My wife and I have been married for thirty years and we have a son and two daughters. I felt God calling me into the ministry in 1986, and after graduating from the Citadel in 1987, I began pastoring my first church. Shortly after, I went to seminary at Erskine Theological Seminary. I graduated with my Masters of Divinity in 1991 followed by my Doctorate of Ministry in 1996. As a pastor with the Methodist Church, I have had the opportunity to serve at a number of churches within the state of South Carolina. God has made it abundantly clear that this is what I am supposed to do. My passion is to see people come to a deeper relationship with God and develop deep, authentic relationships with others. In my spare time I enjoy welding, fishing, and spending time in Edisto with my family.
Rev. Dick Herd
I started at Mauldin United Methodist Church in 2010 as the minister of youth, and was then appointed as the Associate Pastor 6 years ago. I was born and raised in the upstate of South Carolina. I attended the University of South Carolina Spartanburg where I received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Post graduation, I received my Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Seminary. After serving in ministry for a number of years, I was ordained by the Baptist Church. In my free time I enjoy watching the Braves, spending time with my wife and daughter, and reading.
Director of Youth Ministry
I have been the Director of Student Ministries here at Mauldin since January 2021. I was born and raised in Fredericksburg, VA, where I grew up in the United Methodist Church, and I attended James Madison University, where I also worked on staff with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) for three years post-graduation. During my time working with college students, I began to sense God calling me to youth ministry, and I moved to Sumter, SC where I worked as a Student Ministries Director at a United Methodist church from 2017-2021. I am passionate about seeing the next generation reached for Christ and helping students change the world through spreading the gospel! In my free time, I also enjoy running, working out, writing, reading, any competitive game, and a good TV series.
Director of Children's ministry
I have been the Director of Children’s Ministries at Mauldin Methodist since September 2020. I grew up in a small town called Hanahan, South Carolina. I’ve been a lowcountry girl most of my life! I attended Charleston Southern University and received my BS in psychology. I have worked with kids for my whole working career. During college, I was an ABA Therapist working with children with autism. I worked for the Charleston Baptist Association as the Director of Summer Camps. Before coming to Mauldin I was working as a K4 teacher at an academy in Charleston. I believe that children are an important part of the church. I long to see them have a solid foundation in Christ that they can build upon as they grow up. They are the future of the church, and their knowledge of God in their youth is vitally important. My husband and I have two beautiful daughters; one in heaven and another here on earth. Patrick and I have worked in a lot of ministries together, whether it’s me helping him in his sports ministry or working together on an overseas mission trip. We enjoy camping, hiking, finding a good show to binge, and being outside.
Director of discipleship & Media ministries
I have been on staff here since October of 2019. I grew up in Atlanta, GA, and was always deeply involved in the church. Feeling led into the ministry I attended Lee University in Cleveland, TN where I received a BA in Bible and Theology. I have been in ministry for nearly 15 years and it has led me all over the country. My wife, Dawn, and I have served in ministry together in Seattle, Texas, California, and now here in South Carolina. I have always been passionate about discipleship and guiding others to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. For many years I did that with youth, and now I am able to do that more broadly for the whole church. Outside of biblical studies, and teaching, I enjoy spending time with Dawn, my son Declan, and my extended family who are mostly in Atlanta, watching college football (especially my Georgia Bulldogs), playing board games or cards, watching “office” reruns, or doing some sort of project on the house.
I have been a part of the MUMC staff since August of 2017. Born and raised in Simpsonville, I moved away from the area in 1991. I lived in Charleston for a few years before settling in Gastonia, NC for 20 years. While I was never too far from my roots, I was the happiest in 2016 when I moved back home. If you don’t see me around the church you will most likely find me rocking on my back porch with some country music playing, or perhaps watching college sports (GO TIGERS), or doing what I honestly love best...digging my toes in the sand enjoying my favorite of God’s creation, the beach. Call or email me for anything you need to know about the church. If I don’t have an answer for you, I can definitely connect you to someone on the Church Staff who can help you.
Director of Music & Senior Adult Ministries
I have been in church ministry now for 42 years with my main focus as Director of Music. In addition to music, I have also served in many other areas: youth, children, senior adults, education, and sports activities. I am married to my beautiful wife Lisa. We have five adult children and four grandchildren with a fifth one on the way. I grew up in Greenville and love this area. I have been singing for the Lord since the age of five when I would stand on the piano bench and sing with my parents. My prayer is that people come to know the Lord and they grow into a real, day to day relationship with Him.
